Location
The River House is located 45 minutes north of Sydney on Berowra Creek, a tributary of the Hawkesbury River. Getting to the house is all part of the experience.
Bring your own boat
The private pontoon is constant deep water frontage and suits vessels up to 10 metres. Launch at Mooney and Mooney boat ramp, a short 10-15minute journey from the house, or Berowra Waters boat ramp at Dusthole Bay, a 10minute journey from the house. Unrestricted car and trailer parking is available at both boat ramps, but spaces are limited and tend to fill up quickly on public holidays and during peak season.
Book a water taxi
Pre book a water taxi to collect you from Brooklyn public wharf, Kangaroo Point or Mooney Mooney boat ramp where there is free parking available near all jetties. Journey time is approximately 20mins, and $130 per trip for 2 people as a guide, to be confirmed upon booking.
Water taxi transfers are to be booked by guests after accommodation is confirmed.
Arrange a water taxi and hire boat package
For the best of both worlds, arrange a water taxi and runabout hire deal which will get you to and from the house quickly, and allow you to explore the river in your own time. The hire boat will be pre delivered to the private pontoon, and no experience or licence is required.
Approximately $400 as a guide for 2 nights, additional nights $50 each. Included in this price is return water taxi transfers from Brooklyn, Kangaroo Point or Mooney Mooney boat ramp, adult life jackets and a tank of petrol.
To be booked by guests after accommodation is confirmed.
Hire a boat
If you have a boat licence, you can hire a tinny with a 30hp engine from Brooklyn Central to use throughout your stay.
Alternatively, Boab Hire at Berowra Waters have a number of 50hp+ runabouts which will allow you to explore more of the mighty Hawkesbury.
Book a seaplane
Arrive in style and fly from Rose Bay directly to the house. Seaplanes are to be booked by guests after accommodation is confirmed.
ACTIVITIES
Swim, Fish and Paddle
Guests are welcome to use the Canadian canoe and sea kayak (adult life jackets supplied) to explore the river and nearby beaches or swim and fish off the private beach and pontoon. We have a number of fishing reels but a good idea to bring your own gear if you like to fish.
Dine
Enjoy a leisurely long lunch at one of Sydney’s best kept secrets, Peats Bite, situated just around the point – They offer a door to door boat transfer to make things that much easier.
Dine at the famous Berowra Waters Inn, only 10 minutes down river. Tables can book out several months in advance, so reservations in advance are essential for these two restaurants to avoid disappointment.
Brooklyn also has a number of options for lunch and a convenience store for supplies, Estuary Restaurant at Kangaroo Point or the Mooney Mooney Club are great local options for lunch or dinner, or head up to Spencer Store for a burger and a beer. At Berowra Waters you’ll find an Italian bistro/café for a good coffee or the fish and chip café for casual dining by the water.
Alternatively, ask us about arranging a local private chef for gourmet in house dining.
Bushwalk
For the adventurous hikers, you can climb to the top of Coba Point behind the house to an incredible lookout and follow the Coba Ridge Track which extends all the way back to Fiddletown in Sydneys North.
Relax!
Slow down to river pace and just soak it all up from the hammock, or chill out on the deck with a good book.
